QA engineers and SDETs running Playwright in CI
Manage Playwright tests next to the requirements they cover
Write test cases once, export them as Playwright specs titled with their case key, run them in your own CI, and import the JSON report to record every result.
Spec export
One test() per case, titled with the case key. With AI connected the body is written from the steps; otherwise a documented test.fixme scaffold.
Report import
Playwright JSON or JUnit XML. Results match cases by key, keep durations and failure messages, and list anything unmatched.
Requirement coverage
Coverage counts only recorded runs: passing, failing, blocked, not run, or no tests.
How it works
- 1Create or generate test cases from a requirement
- 2Export the spec and commit it to your repo
- 3Run npx playwright test --reporter=json in CI
- 4Import results.json to record the run
Frequently asked questions
- Does Monicasoft run my Playwright tests?
- No. Tests run in your own pipeline against your app. Monicasoft exports the specs and records the results you import.
- Which report formats can I import?
- Playwright's JSON reporter output and JUnit XML, which most CI tools and test runners can produce.
- How are results matched to test cases?
- By the test case key at the start of each test title, then by exact title. Unmatched titles are listed so you can fix them.
